Microsoft Windows
Welcome to Microsoft Windows, in these pages, you will find information and navigation help on most Windows features, here you will find a background of the OS versions above. Windows 2000 (1999-2010) was one of Microsoft's best Operating Systems at the time, and was supported until 2010. By then however, most programs dropped 2000 support and it couldn't run most modern software. Windows XP (2001-Present) Is another Windows success, and has been named "The Operating System that Won't Die". Even after the release of three different versions of Windows, XP still has a large user base. A lot of this is due to the peoples comfort with XP, and many don't want to change from what they already know. Windows Vista (2006-Present) was a flop. Windows Vista was released unfinished and still contained a lot of bugs, and ran slow even on fast computers. It did however come with Microsoft Direct X 10, and had lots of eye candy to it. Windows 7 (2009-Present) Is Microsoft's best OS to date. It combines the reliability of Windows XP, and the eye candy of Windows Vista into one. It is fast on computers that ran an OS as old as 2000 (I have done this, worked like a dream).
Windows 8/8.1 (2012/2013) is Microsoft's current operating system. It was met with serious opposition. But with an open mind and some time Windows 8 can be a simple OS to use and get used to. With the 8.1 Update added back a basic start button allowing for that classic Windows feel.

the 64 bit versions
Starting at Windows XP, each Windows version comes in either 32 or 64 bit. 32 bit is limited to only 4 gigabytes of RAM, and can be slower than 64 bit. 64 bit can use more than gigabytes of RAM, and can load data faster than 64 bit. Most modern computers today come with 64 bit support, and a 64 bit OS installed, while older computers are generally limited to 32 bit. However, with Windows XP, the 32 bit version is more stable than its 64 bit brother, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 64 bit versions are much more stable.
